“Lifting Weights”
I woke up this morning with a sore back and tight right hamstring and couldn’t figure out the root cause until the shame crept over me; I nudged my weights (two 52.5 lb dumbbells on a stand) a few feet when I was cleaning our home office on Saturday.
As I hobbled around work with a weaving, zombie-like gait…grimacing in immobile discomfort, my work colleagues naturally expressed curiosity about what led to my semi-incapacitated state. I responded “lifting weights” which wasn’t a complete lie…after-all, I can’t be responsible for the erroneous conclusions they arrive at can I? But, if there ever was a call to action for making a lifestyle change…this is it.
