U2: Every Breaking Wave (Radio Mix)
Yeah, yeah…I get it, honestly I do, U2 aren’t cool anymore and their latest albums don’t come close to the heights of their musical creativity when they released Achtung Baby/Zooropa in the early 90’s. Admittedly, I don’t listen to U2 as much as I used to but, in my humble opinion, their post-Achtung Baby/Zooropa albums are still above average and have a number of memorable, high-quality songs. Perhaps the world was distracted by the band’s arrogant (but well-meaning), unsolicited marketing/deployment of 2014’s Songs of Innocence album on everyone’s Apple device but listen to the radio mix of Every Breaking Wave and you will hear a top-notch written/delivered song that will stand the test of time (if the hair on the back of your neck doesn’t stand up from 3:30 – 3:45, check your pulse).
